Hi ladies, I'm planning a recognition service and I'm looking for ideas. What have you done for recognition services? Thanks!

We usually don't have a lot of time, but we try to incorporate our yearly theme in some way. We always do our Motto, pledge and verse(s). Sometimes we sing, do sign language to a scripture verse, do a short skit. And, of course, each girl receives her sash with badges and bracelets.
This year, we will probably use the little ditty that was in the March/April GA World that we were supposed to make up a song to go with it. I don't have it in front of me. Anyway, we will probably do it more like a cheer. We will be singing the song "Love the Love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8mr839-TVs It goes with the theme pretty good. |

We always have a "BIG" recognition banquet in May (on a different night from our regular Wed. night meetings) before the girls get out of school. This year for "Anchors Aweigh" we will have a year-long cruise theme with all of the different ports of call. The banquet will be "Dinner with the Captain." We are fortunate to have a large group (about 50-60) girls. For the banquet we invite moms, grandmothers, aunts, etc. with a special invite to all WMU ladies. Dads and Grandfathers are invited to serve as waiters. We have a slide show of the girls and their activities all year, special music, a wonderful dinner and speaker; then we close with a time of recognition (on the stage) of each girl. It is at this time that they receive their sashes & badges. We usually do something a little special for the 5th graders who are leaving to go to the Youth. Last year we decorated with roses and each girl received a rose to take home. It has become quite a tradition to have a "Ladies Night" to recognize the girls and the ladies who have influenced their lives.
