We chose to clean up a yard for a couple who are members of our church. She has had an ongoing battle with cancer and he has back problems. The girls and one boy raked and pulled weeds in the flower beds. The adults trimmed a ginger plant that had been damaged by the cold while the children put the dead branches in trash bags. We finished by raking under the hedge in the back yard. The couple served the girls lemonade and cookies. One of the GAs prayed for the lady which touched her very much. The children and adults had a lunch of pizza at the leader's house. Even though the girls found the work to be difficult, they still felt good about helping this couple.

I am the GA director from Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton, Florida and I would like to share our CMD story with you.
We began our weekend with a Lock-in on Friday night complete with a mission study, food and games, a focus on the ministry day and prayed over the events that would take place on Saturday. We had 48 girls present for this event.
On Saturday morning, we had parents join us for the Ministry Day events. With a total of 62 (10 leaders, 40 girls and 12 parents), we were able to divide into 4 groups. Our first group headed to the Preganancy Resource Center. The girls cleaned up inside and out, worked in the flower beds, seperated donated items and made baskets of goodies for new mothers. Our second group went to the Family Promise Day Center (area center for homeless families). They cleaned inside and out, raked the yard and planted flowers. Group 3 made some promotional posters and boards for Family Promise to help with a public awareness event and also wrapped boxes for our church food drive. Group 4 washed, waxed and cleaned out the Family Promise vans that are used throughout the week to transport families to job interviews, work, etc..
God blessed us with such a beautiful day!!! I know the girls were tired, but they had such a good time and are already talking about next year! Thanks to all of you that help coordinate these events. It's exciting to watch our girls grow in Christ and reach out to others.

We are the GA’s and RA’s of First Baptist Church of Crawfordville, Florida. This year for Children’s Ministry Day we did several things to try to reach as many people as we could. We learned that Jesus is the “Bread of Life” so we decided to bake fresh bread and attach the scripture John 6:35 where Jesus say’s; “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” We went to the Senior Adult Apartments and handed out the loaves of bread there. We also learned that Jesus is the “Light of the World” so we put light bulbs in paper bags and attached the scripture John 6:12 where Jesus say’s; “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life." We gave the bags to our church’s food pantry to be given to the people that come in. We also collected cleaning supplies, hygiene items and made children’s gift bags for our local shelter for battered women and children. About thirty children and adults participated and had a wonderful time at Children’s Ministry Day 2010.

The GAs and RAs at Hiland Park Baptist in Panama City joined together to work in the yards of 6 of our homebound members. We cleaned, raked, and helped in whatever way we could. We were able to send out 4 teams on that Saturday morning. I'm not sure who got the bigger blessing - the children or the adults!
