First Baptist Church in Frankin, NC had a free lunch for the needy families in our community. The Girls in Action helped out the other missions groups in our church who sponsored this event. We fed the families a hot lunch, had bags of groceries as door prizes and provided arts and crafts for the children of these families to make. The GA's helped the childen with the arts and crafts. It was a great day!

Our children's group from Tar Heel Baptist Church in Tar Heel visited the home of one of our shut-in seniors.  She is 94 years old.  When I called to ask if we could visit with her and do yard work, she graciously welcomed us to her home.  We arrived on Saturaday morning with four little workers and we all set out to get her yard in tip top shape.  I think she was more excited about our visit than our yard work.  Our kids worked for about two hours and then we went in and visited with her.  I think the gift of the visit was far greater than the gift of the yard work.  I know that she blessed us far greater.  She shared her pictures, stories of her family, and she showered our little ones with hugs and kisses.  This was a labor of love that I don't think they will ever forget.

Our GA's had a wonderful opportunity to serve a Senior Adult in our congregation.  Ms. Frances Martin was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.  She is currently undergoing Chemotherapy treatments.  Ours GA's chose to visit with Ms. Frances, and clean her house for her on Children's Ministry Day.  What a blessing!  Additionally, one of our GA leaders and her daughter were involved in a auto accident the night before Children's Ministry Day.  Ms. Donna and her family are also our church custodians.  Upon returning from our visit with Ms. Frances, all the GA leaders and girls "jumped in" to help Ms. Donna and her family clean our church.  It truly was a wonderful day to teach girls hands on what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

On March 12th the Beulah Baptist Association in Roxboro, N.C. participated in Children's Ministry Day.  We made personal care kits for several of our Red Cross Chapters that was located in Burlington and Person County, N.C. and also in Halifax County, Virginia.  We had 13 churches that supplied either donation of items or momentary donations that we could buy items that were needed and a few of the churches supplied both.
We fixed 125 kits for females, 125 kits for males, 83 for children, and 25 for babies.  We also donated some of the baby items to the Person County Pregnancy Center.
We had people from 16 different churches that came and participated in this event.  We had 137 children, young people, and adults that attended and helped fix the kits.
We started our event at Clement Baptist Church at 6:30 P.M. and served pizza.  After the meal we had a devotion and then a skit pertaining to the ministry we were doing.  After this all that were present was ready to get involved with hands on of fixing the personal care kits.  This was a first for some of the ones that came and they were really amazed at how much fun and fellowship that it was.  We also had many that were present to help that were veterans at this.
One lady that was there helping said that she was glad that we chose this particular ministry to do.  She had lost her house in a fire and had lost everything and the Red Cross had given her a personal care kit like the ones that we were fixing.  She said that she had worked with the Boy Scouts and that they had fixed these kits for the Red Cross.  The lady said that she thought the kit that she received was probably one of the kits that they had fixed and donated!
Many people can be reached with this type of ministry.  These Red Cross Chapters appreciated these donated personal care kits.  They do not have to buy them out of their budget and can use the money that they have to help with other needs.

As we have done for the past few years, the GAs at Neuse Baptist Church in Kinston, NC actually began their Children's Ministry Day the night before. Everyone arrived at the Church Fellowship Hall and enjoyed supper cooked by "Mr. Jack" (the husband of one of our leaders) and then headed to WalMart to finish some shopping we needed to do for our project. This year we joined the Baptist Men in filling "Buckets of Hope" for Haiti and adding some food items to our church's pantry for those in need. Each 5 gallon bucket(with lid) was suppose to contain the same specific items and be packed a certain way. We invited our church members to join us in either buying and filling their own bucket or bringing  items to church and let the GAs pack them. We had a good response from our GAs and their families as well as our church memebers. The GAs also bought buckets and filled them using money they had raised from a previous fundraiser. All of the girls and leaders helped sort the groceries to make sure each bucket had what it needed. Then we all sat in a circle and carefully followed directions to pack buckets. We ended up with 14 buckets! After that, it was crazy, girlie, sleepover time....with fashion shows, truth or dare and other games, more food, popcorn and movies...and then, yes, we went to sleep. Our Baptist men took the "Buckets of Hope" to a drop site and then they were taken to the State Baptist Convention. After that, the buckets were to go to Florida and then Haiti. It was a real blessing for us all to know that we have helped in some small way to meet the physical needs of 14 families. Most importantly, we have shown the love of God .
